What to Expect

You’ve made the decision to jump from a perfectly good airplane!

A tandem jump is the simplest way to enjoy the thrill of skydiving!

Start by making a reservation online here

Your reservation time is your check-in time. Your adventure begins after you watch a short video and sign a legal waiver. Next, a USPA-certified tandem instructor takes you through a brief training session. Then you will board the aircraft and ascend to 13,500 feet! (Many Drop Zones don’t take you to that height, but we do!)

You and your instructor will jump out of the plane harnessed together.

You will fall for almost a minute and reach speeds up to 120 mph. After the parachute opens you will glide through the sky towards the earth for 5-7 minutes! Land back on the ground, and ride that adrenaline high!

If you’re an adrenaline junkie looking for a new way to scratch that itch, or you’re looking for fun and exciting outdoor activities in the Suffolk, VA area, Skydive Suffolk has the answer for you! Call us today for more information on our options and come get the thrill of a lifetime!

How old do you have to be to skydive?

You must be 18 years or older and show a valid government-issued photo ID. There is no max age!

Can I eat or drink before my skydive?

Yes. Eat and drink normally before your jump. Jumping on an empty stomach is not recommended and is the leading cause of feeling unwell under parachute.

Can I wear my glasses or contacts?

Yes. We supply goggles that fit over your glasses and help keep contacts in place.

Is there a weight limit?

Yes, we can accommodate up to 250 lbs with additional weight charges above 220lbs. Please contact us for this information.

Do you have gift certificates available?

Yes, we absolutely do! You can click here to purchase online and receive via email.

Should I tip my instructor?

If you’ve enjoyed your experience, you are welcome to tip your instructor and videographer. Tips are always appreciated but never expected.

How far are you from the Virginia Beach Oceanfront?

We’re about 45 minutes away.

What should I wear?

Dress in comfortable clothes and wear closed-toe shoes. You can wear hoodies, jackets, and pants you will not mind sliding in the grass in. If the weather is cold, dress in layers.

Can I bring my own POV camera (ex: GoPro)?

The United States Parachute Association has a basic safety regulation that does not allow any students/jumpers with under 200 jumps to wear POV cameras; you are not permitted to bring a camera/GoPro on your jump.

How long does it take to skydive?

The process from start to finish can take anywhere from 1 to 4 hours so bring a cooler and a camp chair. You are welcome to watch the parachutes being packed as well as the other skydivers landing.

I want to jump on my own. How do I do that?

Are you open to the public?

Yes, we are open to the public! Come watch skydivers and enjoy the view!

I am jumping with a group of people and we all want photos and video; do we each need to purchase a photo/video package?

Yes. Each person who wishes to have video/photo evidence of their skydive (and honestly, you’ll want to relive this!) needs to purchase one of our three packages. We can capture ground footage of the group pre-jump (just let us know), but the videographer can only capture one person in the air during the actual skydive. Check out this blog post about which options we have.

Can I bring my pet?

While we love pets at Skydive Suffolk, please leave yours at home. The only exception is a registered service dog.

Do I jump with my group?

If you have reserved as a group, we will do everything in our power to ensure you are all on the same load. However, we can’t guarantee everyone will be on the same plane.

What if there is bad weather on the day of my skydive?

Skydiving is a weather dependent sport and there is no guarantee of jumping on your scheduled jump date. If the weather is bad, we will do our best to call you in a timely manner to reschedule your reservation. We do not charge a rescheduling fee.

3. Freefall 60 sec, Don’t forget to open your eyes and smile! Enjoy terminal velocity at 120 mph.

4. After the parachute opens, enjoy the views. At this time your instructor may loosen some of your harness to make it a more comfortable ride for you!
