Rigging Loft Courses

United States Parachute Association (USPA) “A” License Parachute Packing Course
The SSTC USPA “A” License Parachute Packing Course provides comprehensive,
hands-on instruction covering all parachute-related requirements necessary for students to qualify for their USPA “A” Skydiving License.
This course ensures that each participant gains the knowledge and practical experience needed to meet and demonstrate the packing and equipment-handling competencies outlined by the United States Parachute Association.
Under the guidance of an FAA-certified parachute rigger, students will complete and be
evaluated on key tasks, including, but not limited to, successfully packing a main parachute for an intentional solo jump, performing a full inspection and maintenance of the three-ring release system, replacing the main closing loop, and recovering equipment properly after landing. These essential skills are taught with a strong emphasis on safety, attention to detail, and
developing a solid understanding of skydiving gear functionality.
This course not only satisfies licensing requirements but also lays the groundwork for
becoming a confident, self-reliant skydiver capable of managing their equipment in various jump
environments.

Licensed Skydiver Packing Course
SSTC’s Licensed Skydiver Packing Course is tailored for certified skydivers seeking to
refine their main canopy packing skills and deepen their technical understanding. This advanced-
level course builds on foundational knowledge acquired during the “A” License Parachute
Packing Course, making it ideal as a follow-up, refresher, or skills upgrade for jumpers who
want to pack with greater efficiency, precision, and confidence.
Through detailed instruction and hands-on practice, participants will learn advanced
packing techniques, canopy care, troubleshooting methods, and best practices for maintaining
consistency and reliability in their pack jobs. This course not only enhances individual packing
performance, but also strengthens a jumper’s overall gear awareness and knowledge of equipment
safety.
Whether you’re looking to become more self-sufficient, reduce dependency on packers,
or meet packing standards for more demanding environments, this course will equip you with the skills and confidence to do so.

Advanced Parachute Equipment Course
SSTC’s Advanced Parachute Equipment Course is designed for experienced sport
skydivers who are ready to take full ownership of their gear with confidence and competence.
This course bridges the gap between user-level maintenance and FAA-certified rigger responsibilities, providing a clear understanding of what tasks can be performed by the owner and which must be left to a licensed professional.
Participants will gain hands-on experience with a wide range of essential equipment skills,
including:
Assembling a main canopy to main risers
Replacing pilot chutes and main deployment bags
Verifying line continuity and correcting misrouted lines
Untangling and organizing main canopies
Performing basic gear repairs using a sewing machine
Conducting detailed main canopy and line inspections
This course emphasizes safety, gear awareness, and technical proficiency, empowering skydivers to take a more active role in maintaining their equipment while knowing when to defer to a certified rigger. Whether you’re a weekend jumper or logging hundreds of jumps annually, this
training enhances your ability to recognize issues early, keep your gear in top condition, and
extend its service life.
